Natural Gas Generator Sets

Spark–Ignited Gas Generator Sets
Our spark–ignited (stoichiometric) natural gas/propane engine generator sets are available in sizes ranging from 5 kW to 150 kW. These are suited to mid–size applications where onsite fuel storage is restricted, a continuous supply of natural gas is readily available or there are local environmental considerations.

Lean–Burn Gas Generator Sets
Lean–burn gas generator sets are designed to provide reliable performance, high fuel efficiency and very low emissions for applications such as high–hour peaking, prime power and combined heat and power (CHP).

Running on a lean mixture of fuel and air, this design significantly reduces the production of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and increases fuel efficiency. The result is a generator set with a high power output, maximum thermal efficiency and NOx emissions as low as 0.7 grams per brake horsepower–hour.

Features and Benefits:

Ranging in output from 995 kW to 2 MW, Cummins lean–burn engines are capable of running on a variable quality gas–from pipeline natural gas to field gas or even biogas with a methane number more than 40. Cummins Power Generation's unique lean–burn design combines high power densities and extended maintenance intervals for an economical solution to prime power or cogeneration needs

Automatic Transfer Switches

GTEC series transfer switches covering the range 40 to 2000 amps and providing normal and generator set source monitoring, generator set starting, and load transfer functions for emergency, standby and optional standby applications. GTEC transfer switches are continuously rated, so they can be applied in applications up to their nameplate rating. The transfer switch power contacts are silver alloy composition with high-pressure design that can withstand thousands of switching cycles without burning, pitting or welding. They require no routine contact maintenance and provide 100% continuous current ratings. The transfer switch control is reliable and easy to understand, utilising LED lamps for status indications, and push-button controls for operator functions. The control is fieldprogrammable without the use of service tools.

Paralleling Equipment

Robust Paralleling Equipment Controls for Fail-Safe Performance

PowerCommand® digital paralleling systems from Cummins Power Generation provide more functionality and robust controls than any other paralleling system available today.
From digital control of generator startup, synchronization and no-break power transitions to sophisticated diagnostics, remote monitoring and networkability, PowerCommand paralleling systems coordinate every aspect of the power system. In 10 seconds or less, PowerCommand digital paralleling systems can synchronize all diesel and multiple gas-engine generator sets with each other and the utility. Based on a true distributed logic concept, the system features paralleling controls mounted on the generator sets, low or medium voltage power sections and a digital master control for performing supervisory functions.

Unmatched Design and Performance Control

All controls are designed and manufactured on standardized control blocks for increased stability. As a result, PowerCommand paralleling systems set the industry benchmark for performance, reliability and functionality. And, because they use fewer components, our paralleling systems occupy 40 percent less space than traditional paralleling systems.
PowerCommand systems are installed in thousands of applications worldwide, including electric generation and distribution systems, industrial plants, data centers, commercial buildings, hospitals, wastewater treatment plants, transportation systems and pipeline stations. Our advanced paralleling systems are one reason why power systems from Cummins Power Generation have long been trusted by the world's most important companies and institutions.

Networking Solutions

PowerCommand® Network is an intelligent, distributed control and monitoring system for operating and monitoring on–site power systems. Intelligent because it employs control devices that communicate with each other via "smart" digital microprocessors, enhancing system functionality and performance. Distributed in the sense that the communications protocol is resident in every network module.

PowerCommand Network uses standard interfaces to communicate with all leading building management systems and automation packages. The easy–to–use system allows:

  • Local or remote monitoring and control
  • Real–time data collection
  • Information retention and report generation

Powerful Software Solutions

In less than 15 seconds, PowerCommand Digital Paralleling Systems can parallel and synchronize all your diesel and multiple gas–engine generator sets with each other and the utility. This true distributed logic concept features paralleling controls mounted on the generator sets, low or medium voltage power sections and the digital master control for supervisory functions.
Cummins Power Generation's easy–to–use PowerCommand iWatch™ remote monitoring systems help reduce your power system setup, operation and maintenance costs. PowerCommand iWatch provides supervisory monitoring, from one location, for easy management of on–site and off–site power systems. It seamlessly interfaces with multiple PowerCommand networks to monitor locally or remotely, either via Local or Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN) or through cellular or satellite links.

PowerCommand iWatch Web–based monitoring products allow you to supervise and control generators and transfer switches from any location:

  • Supports Web–based access
  • Provides multiple alarm notifications
  • Local or remote monitoring and control
  • Real–time data collection
  • Data retention
  • Report generation on the entire power system from one location

PowerCommand Pulse™

PowerCommand Pulse (or PC Pulse™) software incorporates all the useful features of PowerCommand iWatch with a more robust, OPC–driven graphical user interface for quick and easy monitoring of multiple power systems. Graphical screens display current alarms and historical alarm logs and offer three levels of system security. Additional PC Pulse options include:

  • Alarm paging
  • Auxiliary monitoring (currently only available via Ethernet connection)
  • Data logging and historical trending (not available with PCPD models)
